Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Select the software management tools
   • Determine the software development methodology to be used
   • Determine the project management software to be used
   • Determine the source-control system to manage the source code and to handle conflicts
   • Determine the collaboration software to be used
2. Use the software management tools
   • Create a project plan, according to the software requirement specifications
   • Define the source-control procedures
   • Create a collaboration environment
3. Monitor the use of software management tools
   • Monitor, and adjust, the project plan to maintain progress according to the project plan
   • Ensure that the code is correctly entered into the source-control system
   • Monitor the collaboration environment, and resolve issues where required

Performance Evidence

Evidence of the ability to:

use software management tools to manage the development of a system to specification

select the software development methodology, project management software, source-control system, and collaboration software

create, monitor and adjust a project plan, according to the requirement specifications

define source-control procedures, and ensure the correct entries into the system

create, monitor, and resolve issues in a collaborative environment.

Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.

outline the basic principles of project management

describe the key features of the software development life cycle (SDLC)

describe the importance of software specifications
